Additional Changes in Poll Results with Education Weights:
Ballot choice is not the only survey result that changes in an education-robust weighting scheme. We also see a shift upward in President Trump’s Net approval rating in Utah when applying our new education-robust weights. Using our previous weights, his approval/disapproval rating is 48/52, putting his Net Approval at -4. With our updated weights, that rating changes from 49/51. When we weight to the CCES breakdown, moreover, we see his approval/disapproval rating reach as high as 51/49. We suspect similar effects to occur in other results that are colored by partisan preferences, further enforcing the case for weighting by education so that more right-leaning preferences in our response data are not understated.
